Fans Propose Wider Share Ownership

Trevor Heayns wrote to me to express his concern that nothing happened to further this option under the present Chairman, despite the latter subscribing to the idea when he was invited to join the Trust.

Heayns argues, "Argyle need funds - what is [Stapleton] doing about widening the share ownership?  He made a statement to me two years ago that he was looking at this and also at the recent AGM he was asked by the WMN.  He replied that some clubs lost more promoting a share issue than they got in."

However he goes on to say, "A share issue was suggested to the fans when I was chairman of the Trust and we got over £400,000 of pledges on a simple A4 circular.   Is it not time that the Chairman and the Board allowed wider share ownership to the fans who provide the finance for the club in any event.  They should be able to reap the benefit of any enhancement of those shares whereas now it would go indirectly to the Directors who took over the holding of the former chairman's company.  There is all the support needed from the fans if the board ask."
