Since signing for the Pilgrims two seasons ago, Lasley has made 32 appearance, only 14 of which were from the start. Marketed to the Green Army as one of Scottish football's brightest prospects, he disappointed many at Home Park after a reasonable first few months with Plymouth. When the initial honeymoon was over, Lasley fizzled out into a fringe player featuring regularly with the reserves rather than the senior side. But since Tony Pulis' arrival, Keith's name started to appear again, even if it was just as an unused substitute. Competiton for a place in the Argyle midfield is now stronger than it ever was under Bobby Williamson, who brought Lasley to Home Park in 2004, and chances of breaking the current mould are diminishing by the minute.
"He, like every player, wants to play" said manager Tony Pulis when questionned the matter. While fans may have been surprised to hear his name announced over the tannoy, particularly at home to Q.P.R. and away to Wolves, many went home impressed with Lasley's input after expecting a passive display. We wish him the best of luck with Blackpool and hope he returns a better player with a good case for a first-team recall.
Rufus Brevett, Argyle's veteran left-back, has been given permission to speak to Doncaster Rovers, the club where his career began. The Western Morning News claimed that the former West Ham defender is unlikely to agree to the move, as he would prefer to be nearer his London home. Reports suggested that the player had been offered a £60,000 pay-off to be taken immediately, but this was promptly denied. This story was featured here on Argyle Mad.
Finally, it has been confirmed that Elliott Ward.will return to West Ham after Plymouth's home match with Coventry. There appears to be no option to extend the loan any further, which will be a huge disppointment to fans who have taken to long-haired centre-half as if he was a permanent fixture. Ward was the focus of our midweek special on Argyle Mad.
