#4 Sheffield Wednesday v ARGYLE
- A Wanted Man
- Heading In The Right Direction
A WANTED MAN
I don't have to spell out who I am talking about, and to quote one of the West Ham fans on the 'Hammers Mad' forum, "I think a bit of business may have been done". The London club's interest in Akos Buzsaky has been recognised by their fans and local media. Alan Pardew has been monitoring our Hungarian starlet for some time and it is quite possible that Buzsaky's recent form will have helped towards a January transfer to materialise. Relations between the clubs are definitely established, what with young Elliott Ward joining the Pilgrims today. Some Hammers fans have seen enough to convince them of the inevitability of Buzsaky's Home Park exit. West Bromich Albion are still reportedly intrigued, but it is my belief that with their long-term Premiership status still very much at risk, splashing out the cash on an unproven talent is quite unlikely - although us Plymouth fans know that Akos would be a credit to many top-flight sides. Argyle are desperate to hang onto Akos, club officials and directors have been entertaining the Hungarian's family, who arrived in Plymouth last week by invitation. "I think he is happy here", Tony Pulis said when questioned over Buzsaky's future but added, "I have been in the game too long to say he's definitely not leaving. There's been interest. I've had phone calls from managers". Pulis said that Akos could be one of the best players he's worked with, let's pray that he stays with us!
HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
An ironic heading, remembering Akos Buzsaky's comical own goal in the reverse of this fixture some five weeks ago. Things have picked up since then especially in the light of Argyle's 3-1 defeat of QPR on Saturday. Buzsaky has kept his head up since that infamous howler and players like David Norris and Nick Chadwick are back in form with a bang. Plymouth face former manager Paul Sturrock again sitting just above the Owls in the table. Ex-Argyle stars Graham Coughlan and Stevie Adams are both unavailable for tonight's clash, but Wednesday seem to be in good stead and were very unlucky to lose to Watford at the weekend. On-loan Manchester United man Chris Eagles is set to play in the hole assuming Sturrock opts not to revert to 4-4-2 with either Lee Bullen or Graeme Lee, both natural defenders, acting as a makeshift frontman. Argyle will undoubtedly be unchanged should no fresh injuries crop up, meaning loan signing Elliott Ward will watch the match from the dugout. David Norris is proving a real thorn in opposition midfields, backlines and even frontlines it seems. He is developing into an accompolished all-round midfielder with great pace and good ideas going forward. 'Chuck' will be Argyle's key player in the coming fixtures with captain Paul Wotton due to serve a suspension after a conspicuous booking in Saturday's QPR tie that saw 12 yellow cards. Norris will have to boss the game, carrying out defensive duties as well, simply becuase he has the ability to do so. The No.7 came out on top in our 'Man Of The Match' poll and deservedly so, David will be an important figure this season, certainly if Buzsaky's services are not retained in January. If I were the Plymouth manager, I would certainly continue efforts to make Akos feel at home. We really need to show him how much he means to this team, I know who I would select as Captain in Wotton's absense on Saturday...
