Defender Tony Capaldi is eyeing a permanent return to Plymouth. The 28-year-old Northern Ireland international was a crowd favourite at Home Park between 2003 and 2007 and he is back on trial with the Pilgrims after being released by Cardiff at the end of last season. Capaldi turned out for Argyle in Saturday's impressive 1-0 friendly win over NAC Breda on Saturday and he believes a return to his old stomping ground could help put a disappointing spell in Wales behind him. "I had a chance to leave Cardiff in January. I had a couple of clubs lined up but the gaffer (Dave Jones) turned around and told me I couldn't go," Capaldi told The Herald. "They were under a transfer embargo and couldn't sign any players. I had to see it out until the end of the season but, to be honest, I had to leave. "I want to go somewhere and start playing football again. I'm 28 now and you don't know how long you have got left in the game. If it's at Plymouth, brilliant. If not, I will look elsewhere next week and see what we can sort out."
