Plymouth v Sheff Wed

Last updated : 30 January 2010 By BBC Sport

Sheffield Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers is in contention following a hamstring injury and Akpo Sodje is also hoping to feature.

Winger Jermaine Johnson will be out for at least another four weeks with his hamstring injury, while Tommy Miller is also struggling with a similar problem.

MATCH PREVIEW

After three wins from Alan Irvine's first four matches as manager, Wednesday have the chance to move seven points clear of Plymouth, who are one off the bottom but are themselves showing signs of improvement.

Wednesday were beaten at Scunthorpe in midweek, while Plymouth's 1-0 win at home to fellow strugglers Derby was their third victory in four league matches - giving boss Paul Mariner real encouragement.

One of Mariner's main tasks has been to improve his team's dismal scoring record. Argyle have scored fewer goals and had fewer attempts on goal this season than any other team in the Championship.

Irvine, meanwhile, has inherited a team that tends to start games well and finish them badly. Wednesday have scored more goals in the opening 15 minutes and conceded more in final 15 minutes than any other side this season.
