Argyle boss Bobby Williamson is keen to land the 20-year-old forward on a season long loan deal before the transfer window closes on Wednesday and Rovers chief executive John Williams has said that the decision on whether a deal can be done will be up to the player.

"We have got seven strikers on the books," said Williams. "The general rule of thumb is four or five so we are a bit overloaded.

"Mark (Hughes) will be looking at whether it's better for him (Johnson) to go, or to stay with us.

"But Jemal has to be involved in some way. The ultimate decision is always with the player and whether he thinks he will best develop playing in someone else's first team."
