Plymouth manager Peter Reid highlighted his side's inability to get the ball down and play as the reason for their 1-0 home defeat by Notts County in the first round of the Carling Cup. Argyle failed to take advantage of a pristine Home Park pitch and succumbed to a John Spicer goal just after half-time. Reid said: "It was bitty game. The pitch was fantastic, perfect for passing, and I thought we just rushed it a bit. "I thought we were anxious from the off. I know I made changes, but I expected us to think about the game a bit more, take time on the ball because the pitch is superb and made for playing passing football." He added: "We warned the team before the game that County were dangerous from free-kicks and set plays, but we gave away silly free-kicks, especially when we started to get a bit of momentum going in the second half. "I don't like losing, but sometimes you learn a lot about your players in defeat and it was one of those nights."
