Reduced to 10 men after 57 minutes when Chris Clark saw red, the Pilgrims rallied to triumph thanks to Yannick Bolasie's crisp 74th-minute penalty. It has been a tough week or so for Argyle, who were docked 10 points for appointing administrators but Reid's side bounced back from Tuesday`s 4-0 thrashing at leaders Brighton to take the three points.
Reid said: "We have talked about the run of defeats that we have been on, but fair dues to the players, after the disappointing performance against a really good Brighton side they have bounced back.
"I thought we deserved our victory, we dug in and it's a welcome three points. I think it lifts everyone connected with the club, players and supporters alike.
"It's a win and a win in football is fantastic. It's a great fillip for anyone involved at the club with what's gone on.
"As a manager I was pleased because win, lose or draw the lads showed plenty of character. That's all I ask, they have certainly done that and it gives you a good feeling when it is a victory."
