Plymouth boss Peter Reid has offered his sympathy to Simon Walton after the player suffered a season-ending knee injury. The 22-year-old joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan from the Pilgrims earlier this month, but suffered cruciate knee ligament damage in a friendly against Mansfield. Walton will now miss the rest of the season and Reid knows exactly how the youngster feels having suffered a similar problem in his youth. Reid told the club's official website: "I had a horrific injury when I was 20 years of age. I was out for a year with a similar injury. "Thankfully, medical science has vastly improved, but it's still a crushing blow to the lad. He's going to have the operation at that end and start his rehab. "It is terrible for the lad because it was a real good chance he had up there to kick-start his career."
