Reid told BBC Radio Devon: "It's an important match as it's the first competitive game. I'll be using two teams out there to see them all live.
"I've got an open mind on lots of things, football managers have got to."
The former Manchester City, Leeds, Sunderland and Coventry boss added: "The most important thing is getting the players and the team right for the [opening League One] game against Southampton."
Since Reid arrived at Home Park, both Simon Walton [Sheffield United] and Ashley Barnes [Brighton] have left the club, and more players are expected to depart before the start of the season.
However, the former England international is keen to make sure player movement at Argyle is not all one-way traffic, and there are currently three unnamed American trialists at the club.
"There's a possibility of one of the trialists featuring against Truro, so I'd like to have a look at him," said Reid.
Plymouth met Truro in a pre-season friendly last summer, with the Pilgrims winning 2-0.
