A brilliant debut goal by striker Reuben Reid gave Walsall their second successive league win as they sent Plymouth to a first loss with a 2-1 win. Reid, who this week joined the Saddlers on loan from West Brom went through the Argyle defence with a sparkling solo run on 70 minutes and drilled his shot past keeper David Button. That ended Walsall's unhappy start of two successive home defeats - one in the cup - and they had to come from behind after Plymouth had taken the lead on 30 minutes - Joe Mason turning quickly to drive a low shot under home keeper Jonny Brain from a cross by Luke Summerfield. Walsall winger Steve Jones had been a problem for the Pilgrims and hit the post when clean through in the 20th minute but just before half-time he limped off with a knee injury. Walsall were level in the 53rd minute, substitute Paul Marshall, signed from Manchester City, heading a fine goal from a cross by Julian Gray. Mason had another goal ruled out for offside as Argyle tried to hit back but in the 70th minute Reid capped a man of the match performance with his stunning winner for Walsall. Plymouth centre-back Kari Arnason was sent off in stoppage time for a foul on Alex Nicholls.
