An amazing hat-trick by manager's son Lee Johnson sent Yeovil through to the second round of the Carling Cup.

Already famous for their FA Cup giant killing exploits, the Somerset side built on their reputation by knocking out high-flying Plymouth placed two divisions and 50 places higher.

The scoring opened with probably the most bizarre incident ever seen on the ground.

Following an injury stoppage in the 28th minute, Johnson tried to knock the ball back to Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick but he had strayed of his line and the ball floated into the net.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson immediately gave Plymouth an equaliser from the kick off as his side stood motionless allowing Stevie Crawford to stroll through and score.

Plymouth forged ahead before half time with a rather fortunate penalty. Liam Fontaine was judged to have fouled Marino Keith and Paul Wotton scored from the spot.

Yeovil's response in the second half was built on an amazing work rate and some tremendous shooting by the manager's son.

In the 69th minute Johnson was allowed to get in a shot from 35 yards following a throw in and the ball flew into the net.

As the game went into extra time Yeovil looked the more likely winners and the duly sealed victory after 102 minutes when Johnson took another free-kick 30 yards out and powered it into the top corner.
